The University of Oviedo: More than 50 years of experience teaching Spanish to non-native speakers.
The Cursos de Lengua y Cultura Españolas para Extranjeros (ELE) have a long history at the University of Oviedo. First developed to provide linguistic support to the EU ERASMUS exchange students that attend the University every year, the curriculum was soon broadened to suit the needs of the growing body of international students from non-European countries, particularly from the U.S.A.
ELE is part of La Casa de las Lenguas, a university language institute which houses all non-degree language instruction under one roof. La Casa de las Lenguas is located at the University’s Humanities Campus and very close to the Oviedo Center
ELE offers courses in Spanish Language and Culture at the Intermediate and Advanced levels during the fall and spring terms as well as all language levels in intensive sessions during the summer ELE also offers specialty courses such as Spanish for Health Care Professionals, Academic Spanish (for advanced students who want to perfect their Spanish for scholarly purposes) during the May- June term.
